Research and Practice at the Intersection of Law and Technology

Journal of Law & Technology seeks to provide a continuing forum for work with scholarly, practical and forward-looking value in law and technology.

The journal examines the ongoing effects of technological development on legal rules, judicial practice, business and professional services. Combining theoretical inquiry, institutional analysis and practical observation, it addresses areas including artificial intelligence, intellectual property, data and cybersecurity, software, the digital economy and legal technology.

Through scholarly papers, case studies, technical practice reports and thematic reviews, the journal aims to document significant questions and practical changes arising from the convergence of law and technology, and to support the organisation, dissemination and international exchange of related research.

Ongoing Industry Observation and Professional Evaluation

Alongside research articles, industry observation and professional evaluation will be important elements of the journal's long-term editorial programme.

The journal will monitor market developments, professional capabilities and the changing landscape of legal technology. Drawing on publicly available information, case and project observations, accumulating data and the development of evaluation methodologies, it aims gradually to establish an industry research and assessment framework that is rigorous, consistent and explainable.

This research is expected progressively to encompass law firms, lawyers, legal technology companies and other professional organisations. As the work advances, the journal plans to publish thematic reviews, annual studies, professional rankings and related evaluations, providing an ongoing record and reference point for developments in legal technology.

Continuing Publication and Library Deposit

Journal of Law & Technology has formally received ISSN 3082-9038.

Following publication of the inaugural issue, the journal is also expected to be deposited with the National Library of Singapore and preserved as a continuing publication.

Submissions

Journal of Law & Technology will welcome submissions from academics, lawyers, researchers and practitioners working in law, artificial intelligence, intellectual property, data governance, cybersecurity, legal technology and related interdisciplinary fields.

Further information about subject areas, manuscript requirements, peer review and publication arrangements will be provided in a subsequent formal call for papers.
